NEIIA Energy Assets Beta
About Energy Assets

The national exchange for tradable energy.

Energy Assets is a regulated marketplace for electricity, natural gas, and carbon credits — built and operated under the National Energy Investment & Intelligence Administration (NEIIA). We connect generators, refiners, IPPs, DisCos, industrial off-takers, and verified offset projects through standardised contracts and transparent price discovery.

Why we exist

Nigeria's energy economy is fragmented across regulators, distribution companies, IPPs, gas processors, and offset registries. Buyers and sellers struggle to discover fair prices and verify counterparties. Energy Assets fixes that with one venue, one settlement layer, and one compliance framework.

Standardised Contracts

Every listing settles against a NEIIA-defined contract with vetted units (kWh, MMBtu, tCO₂), delivery windows, and dispute mechanisms.

Verified Counterparties

KYC-checked sellers (gencos, IPPs, DisCos, project developers) and KYB-verified industrial buyers — no anonymous capital.

Transparent Price Discovery

Open order books, anonymous bidding, and a published mid-price feed — so buyers don't pay above market and sellers aren't haircut.

Regulatory Audit Trail

Every trade is logged on the NEIIA compliance ledger. Settlement, tariff metering, and tax allocation flow into existing federal systems.

Carbon-First Design

Carbon credits sit beside electricity in the same orderbook — making it economic for renewable IPPs to monetise both kWh and tCO₂ simultaneously.

Built for Scale

Architecture mirrors Bybit-grade exchange patterns — sub-second order matching, 99.9% uptime SLO, and resilient settlement.

How it works

Four steps from sign-up to settlement.

1

Onboard & verify

Sign up as a Producer (sell) or Consumer (buy). Upload regulator IDs (NERC licence, NUPRC OPL, registry CRS, NMDPRA permit). Compliance review typically completes within 48 hours.

2

List or browse

Sellers list assets with quantity, unit price, delivery window, and proof of capacity. Buyers browse the marketplace, filter by asset class, and watch the live order book.

3

Bid & match

Place anonymous bids against any listing. The order book aggregates depth in real time. Sellers can accept, counter, or hold for the next price tick.

4

Settle & deliver

Cleared trades flow into NEIIA's settlement layer — escrow, tariff routing, and physical delivery scheduling all handled by API integration with TCN, NIPC, and registry partners.

Governance & oversight

Energy Assets operates under enabling federal frameworks.

Petroleum Industry Act 2021

Upstream petroleum production licensing & midstream gas commercialisation — supplied by NUPRC and NMDPRA data feeds.

Electricity Act 2023

State-level electricity market reforms enabling distributed wholesale trading. NERC oversight retained for federally licensed assets.

National Climate Council

Carbon credit standards and offset registry reciprocity per Nigeria's Energy Transition Plan.
